MOQ Explained: Ordering Handmade Gourd Décor Without Overstock
Understand wholesale MOQs for handmade gourd décor, how tier pricing works, and how to pilot new SKUs without tying up warehouse space.

Minimum order quantities scare first-time importers — especially with handmade goods. With gourd décor, MOQ is not an arbitrary barrier; it reflects curing batches, finishing labor, and carton efficiency.
A workshop that quotes MOQ from 50 pieces is usually aligning one carton or one finishing run. That is often enough for a boutique pilot or a regional e-commerce test. Tier pricing then rewards larger runs: unit cost drops as sanding, sealing, and packing amortize across more shells.
Start with one hero SKU and one supporting piece rather than ten new shapes. Measure sell-through for 60–90 days, then expand heights or finishes that share packing specs. Shared cartons cut landed cost and simplify replenishment.
Ask suppliers to separate sample lead time from production lead time. Samples prove finish quality; production depends on cured inventory. If the workshop only has green shells, your timeline stretches even when the quote looks fast.
The goal is not the smallest possible MOQ. The goal is an MOQ that matches your shelf plan and freight method so you do not overstock slow shapes while stockouts hit the winners.
